At-risk women in work

On average, women in the workforce are commonly known to be paid less than men. Women also often lose promotion opportunities to men. The discrepancies in work equality are narrowing but women often still feel they have to work harder – and shine brighter – than their male co-workers. Sadly, this fact can lead to women becoming exhausted and ill by overwork.

As a woman it is imperative to know when enough is enough because we often have a habit of putting everyone else first. Th result is becoming worn down and ill before you’ve even known what’s hit you. Listen to your body for signs that you’re on the verge of becoming ill. Are you having trouble sleeping? Are you achy and irritable? If so you may need to review if you’re taking proper care of yourself.

Of course proper diet and nutrition are important to keep an eye on – and don’t forget keeping physically fit. But also remember to find that healthy balance between work and down-time. If you live, breathe and eat work you will not ultimately thrive.

When’s the last time you took time off for yourself? Not a half-day to make it to your son’s football game but something just for you? You don’t have to set out to travel the world – you can find a simple getaway much closer to home. In fact there are a lot of good options for holidays in the UK – it’s just a matter of taking some time to honour yourself and having a look at the options.
